Free online document tools that don't upload your files
Most “free” PDF sites work by uploading your document to their server, processing it there, and handing back a link — which means a copy of your contract, invoice or passport scan sits on someone else's disk. PhotoSoft does the work in the page instead. Merging, splitting, compressing, signing, watermarking and converting all run as JavaScript and WebAssembly on your own machine.
You don't have to take our word for it: open your browser's devtools, switch to the Network tab, and run any PDF, image, document or audio tool here. Your file never appears in a request.
There are two honest exceptions, and we'd rather name them than let you find them. The video tools upload your file only when it is too big for a tab to hold — trimming and joining MP4s up to 400MB, and compressing under 60MB, all run in the page like everything else and cost nothing. Past those sizes the file goes to our servers, is processed with ffmpeg, deleted afterwards, and charged in credits; each of those pages says which path your file is taking before you start it. The OCR tool downloads a language model once before it can read anything; that request carries the model, never your image.
Everywhere else, because nothing is uploaded, the usual limits go with it: no accounts, no daily caps, no watermarks on the output, and no file size ceiling beyond what your own machine can hold.
