What editable actually means here
Plenty of converters produce a .docx that opens in Word and cannot be edited. Every line sits in its own floating text box, so changing one sentence shoves the layout apart. Technically a Word file; in practice a picture of one.
This rebuilds the document structure instead. Paragraphs are real paragraphs, so text reflows as you type. Tables stay tables rather than becoming grids of separate boxes, headings show up in the navigation pane, and lists come back as lists rather than as manually typed bullet characters.
A PDF that is a scan has no text layer to recover, and no converter can change that — run it through OCR first. This tool processes on our server rather than in your tab, because reconstructing document structure is heavier than a browser can manage, and the file is deleted afterwards.
