Why does it open my print dialog?+
Because your browser already knows how to paginate and lay out text properly. Using its print engine gives a better result than a converter drawing the page by hand, and “Save as PDF” is built into it.
Does it support .doc?+
No, only .docx. The old .doc format is a completely different binary format; open it in Word or Google Docs and re-save as .docx.
Will my layout survive exactly?+
Text, headings, lists and tables carry over well. Complex layouts, text boxes and some image positioning may shift — you'll see the preview before you print.
