Can this open a PDF I don't have the password for?+
No. It removes a password you can already type. Breaking encryption is not something this tool does or will do.
Why would I remove a password?+
So a document you own stops prompting every time you or your tools open it — most PDF libraries refuse encrypted files outright.
What is the difference between an owner password and a user password?+
A user password is the one you type to open the document at all. An owner password leaves it readable but flags it as restricted for printing or copying. Either way this tool needs a file you can already open.
Is the unlocked copy otherwise identical?+
Yes. The encryption is removed and the pages are written back untouched — same text layer, same fonts, same images. Nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed on the way through.
