Why did my file get bigger?+
If the PDF was mostly text, rasterising it produces images that are larger than the original text instructions. This tool helps with scans and image-heavy files; on a text document, it usually isn't worth it.
Will the text still be selectable?+
No. Pages are rebuilt as images, so the text layer is lost. That's the trade for the size reduction, and it's why you should keep the original.
Which level should I pick?+
Balanced is a good default. Strong is best for scans you only need to be legible; Light barely changes quality.
