About this dot grid
Drawn as vector geometry at real-world dimensions, so it prints at exactly the size shown on A4, A5, A3, US Letter, US Legal. Print at 100% rather than “fit to page” — that setting rescales the sheet and the measurements stop being the measurements.
You can change:
- Dot spacing — 3 to 15 mm, 5 mm by default
- Dot size — 0.2 to 0.8 mm, 0.3 mm by default

Frequently asked questions
What dot spacing do bullet journals use?+
5mm, which is what Leuchtturm1917 and Rhodia both use and what this defaults to. If you are matching an existing notebook, measure between two dot centres rather than the gap between dots — the spacing here is centre to centre.
Why are the dots so small by default?+
A dot grid works when the dots locate a line and then disappear underneath it. At 0.3mm they read as position marks; much larger and they become part of the drawing rather than a guide to it. The range goes to 0.8mm if you want them clearly visible.
Do the dots at the edge of the page get cut off?+
No. A dot is drawn outward from its centre, so a grid running exactly to the margin would put half of every edge dot into the strip a printer cannot reach. The grid is inset by half the dot size before it is laid out, which keeps every dot whole.
